About This Game Dynamic turn by turn classic Roguelike with an unique casting system. Easy to play and hard to master! Explore the mysterious Dungeons of Cyndaria and unearth an extensive lore. A plethora of creatures and magical items are waiting for you to step into ever-changing dungeons, with diverse biomes and challenges. Defeat Dragon bosses to unleash hidden runes and recover the sacred seeds of Cyndaria to restore the divine trees. Dungeons can be unforgiving: be sure to eat and rest in time, use all your abilities wisely. Nothing stops you from skipping bosses to rush and move to the next dungeon, but you’ll also meet true death if you don’t take time to level up your character and abilities. Each class has access to 4 rune types and casts spells by drawing them on a runic compass. Make your character unique, based on your gameplay: do you prefer shooting arrows with your warrior? Just use your bow more often, and your “Ranged weapons” specialization will level up, twice faster if you chose the talent “Hunter” when rolling your character. Our game is similar to classic roguelike such as Nethack, enhanced with an extensive interface and an intuitive fast access to melee, ranged or spell casting.Life and mana gradually refill after several turns, but you can choose the faster way by sleeping, which consumes precious food.Permadeath, turn by turn gameplay, runecast system, hunger, random levels with predetermined land patches on each floor, 200+ equipment pieces to loot, cursed items and enchanted items, extensive inventory system, random potions, scrolls... and so much more to discover! When it says, it's a "true rogue-like" they aren't kidding. Paper Dungeons has many of the aspects of the original rogue, a simple dungeon crawler randomly generated, with RPG elements and permadeath. This has to be the most rogue-like, rogue-like I've seen on Steam next to Vulture for NetHack (which was abandon-ware).However, it's not just a rogue clone; this game has a simple set of classes and progression system that lets you build your character and still customize it for different styles of play, based on what you find in your adventures. There's also the concept of different zones, allowing your character to finish one dungeon and go on to another effectively that's thematically slightly different. This game shares a lot in common with "I Am Overburdened," including the retro look. However, unlike that game it's not as linear, allowing you to choose different paths for your adventure. I'd think this game would have more replay value than that one. Paper Dungeons is fun, but death comes all too easily. It does suffer from that problem of the original rogue games that if you are taking a real wailing, it's hard to realize your health meter has just dropped precipitously because you've been plowing through the rest of one level in your stride.I'd love to see Steam controller support and maybe a little better UI, perhaps making the magic system more apparent. It is early access at this point, which means it needs a little more work on graphics, maybe some quest development, and it needs some work on music, which is highly monotonous. However, good game, and if you are a rogue-like fan well worth the money.. The game is, frankly, adorable. While not complete, it's still enjloyable. It does seem like a generic Rogue-Lite, but it's not bad. I just hope this game escapes the deep dungeon of Early Access Development. I think this game could be cool.. Great game! Reminds me of that superb xbox dungeon crawler "Cursed Loot" (please release this on pc!!!).Only played for a short while, but there's enough depth to the game to keep me interested. Good to see there's going to be much more in the full version (which should be out next month!).Well worth the purchase.. BIG BUG ! Stuck on a pink screen when booting and it close the game , CANT PLAY! ( I hope they will fix this...). This is a nice roguelike game. I like that it can be played with the mouse and\/or keyboard, and you don't have to memorize several dozen keyboard commands, making it a rather friendly roguelike for introducing new players to the genre, while still able to challenge veteran players. I love the amount of character customization that is possible, and it is clear that a lot of love and hard work went into making the dungeon levels fun and interesting. There's certainly some room for improvement with the interface, and some things could be better explained. Most people don't instinctively think, "It's a scroll. I should drag it to the Mouth to use it." The fact that you have to remove your melee weapon and shield in order to enchant your equipped bow isn't exactly obvious either. I'm optimistic that these things will be addressed over time and future patches, but even if they are never fixed, I am definitely getting my money's worth of fun from this game and regret nothing.
